Life Has a Purpose

Are you among those, as I was, who have been led to believe that we’re born, we live, and then we die, so make the most of it while you still can?

Although we should make the most of life, once our purpose is revealed, life takes on a new meaning.

Once I gave my life to God/Jesus, my direction changed. If you have not yet handed your life over, this will be difficult to comprehend. Life has a purpose.

You see, once we are born again, those activities, desires, things that we thought we could not live without begin to mean nothing. Our values change. To quote scripture, and I will use the NKJV here, this is exactly what happens when you fully submit to God:

Ephesians 4:22-24 “22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Romans 6:21 (NKJV)

“What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed?”

Paul is saying: the things you once pursued now bring shame — a reversal of affection.

Ephesians 4:22–24 (NKJV)

“…put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man… and be renewed… and put on the new man…”

This is the transformation in which old desires fade, and new ones take their place.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) ( This is the most common reference)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away…”

Old affections pass; new ones rise.

It is true. We become “new creatures”. Unless you experience this transformation firsthand, it is difficult to explain. In my testimony, you may have read that once the Holy Spirit removed my desire to smoke or drink alcohol, an aversion was instilled within me, and these things now repulse me.

The smell of cigarette smoke now makes me physically ill, and so does the thought of drinking. I give praise for this healing every single day.

So, what do I mean when I say life has a purpose?

Perhaps you feel that you were “born to be” a Doctor, Dentist, firefighter… and the list goes on. This is what we call gifts; if you are actually working in the field you were born to be in. If not, it could be just a daydream.

What if you are in your born-to-be role but are compelled to do something else?

This is the Holy Spirit at work, compelling you to do what God has purposed for you. And it could be that He desires you to combine your gifts with His purpose. He does this all of the time!

“My Life Has No Purpose”

Are you among those who feel their life has no purpose, wandering from job to job, place to place, not knowing what you should do with your life?

If you haven’t given your heart and life to Jesus, you are disconnected from your purpose in so many ways.

I have always worked in health care. I have also been a writer all of my life. It wasn’t until I connected with God that my purpose was revealed to me: Sharing His gospel. How can I combine my gift of writing and doing His will? You’re here on this website.

Life has a purpose. Reach out to our creator, enter into a saving relationship with Him, and He will definitely reveal His purpose for you.
